Consultorio Médico

Medical Centre

The Parish of San Juan Evangelista
(St. John the Evangelist)
Pamplona Baja, San Juan de Miraflores, Lima.

Operates out of the home of The Rev'd Luis Villalobos.

Two rooms have been set aside for a doctor and a nurse to provide low-cost healthcare services to poor residents of the shanty towns. Every morning during the week, a doctor and a nurse attend patients for check-ups and diagnosis and treatment of minor ailments. The Medical Center also has a small-scale pharmacy and provides education on basic health and hygiene.

Perú does not have socialized healthcare, and most residents of the shanty towns do not have any form of medical insurance. The Medical Center allows ailments to be treated before they worsen or become life-threatening.

The Medical Center has been operating since 1990. Financial and professional volunteer support for this project will help to continue to provide much-needed health services in one of Lima's poorest areas.
